Throughout much of the Web's history, hand-to-hand weapons were the choice instrument of killing. Whether a sword, axe, or club, these weapons have been used in countless wars and far longer than the guns that have largely replaced them. However, in some of the poorest corners of the Web, these weapons are still largely employed. This is rare, often found only in the least developed regions that are largely isolated than from the connected Web of Worlds. Furthermore, these weapons are still employed by modernized nations in specialized cases. Some weapons, as magical artifacts, are far more potent than even the best small arms. Others are useful underneath specific circumstances.

Esperian Hand-to-Hand Weapons

Tzen Imperial Alloys is an Esperian government corporation that is renowned for producing the finest quality metals for knives and other blades in the Web. TIA makes superb cutlery that is popular abroad, and makes the bayonets for both the Esper United Soldiery and the Grand Army. The bayonets it makes can serve as both a knife and a bayonet, and every infantryman in the Esper Union is given one bayonet. While the type of bayonet issued varies with each mission’s needs, six inch bayonets are most often given to soldiers of the Airmobile Regulars and civil defense infantry, eight inch bayonets to the soldiers of the Esperian Naval Marines, and twelve inch bayonets to the Battlesuit Regulars.

TIA-S1 Saber

The officer corps of every branch of the Esper United Soldiery carry a saber as a mark of their rank, and this saber is typically carried into the field for use in directing orders and as a last ditch weapon in close combat. These blades are made by Tzen Imperial Alloys, and are well-made and durable swords. The sabers are standard issue for officers in the Esperian Naval Marines, Airborne Regulars, and officers aboard naval and aerospace vessels. Furthermore, all officers of the Soldiery have them as part of their dress uniform.
