While not strictly unique, the Crownguard is the Guardian flagship and, as might therefore be expected, sits at the cutting edge of aerospace technology. Outwardly, the Crownguard is a modified Phoenix Battleship. Its capabilities far exceed the standard for a ship of similar model, however, and even as perhaps the smallest of the national spacefleet flagships the vessel more than holds its own.

Many of the Crownguard's capabilities are not widely known, but exhibited so far are the following:

  • Advanced energy shielding
  • Illusory displacement field
  • Persistent guided missile "dead zone"

It is speculated among piratic circles that the Crownguard is driven by an advanced artificial intelligence, attributing the vessel's ability to react, maneuver and attack to nothing less than a state-of-the-art Guardian super computer. This is likely false; it is important to remember that the Crownguard is commanded personally by Grand Admiral Thames.

Employment

The Crownguard is Thames' vessel, and where ever he goes in the course of his duties as head of the GSF, he travels aboard this vessel. Additionally, whenever King Derik travels outside of Gate, he usually does so aboard the Crownguard.

For this reason, a contingent of the GSF has been set aside as the Crownguard Fleet. The Crownguard Fleet consists of the Crownguard herself, and a retinue of no less than ten Tyrano Warships.
