History Avarael hated his father Amitam, whom he perceived as a directionless loser. Avarael, however, idealized his father Celiose. The contrast between Amitam’s meandering life and Celiose’s ironclad sense of purpose strongly effected the young Avarael, and he chose the route of duty. At the age of ten he joined the Black Alpha training cadre, the oldest recruit ever accepted, and by sixteen he had graduated to Black Omega. (A typical Black Omega op trains from 6 to 18 in Black Alpha). A few years ago Avarael fell in love with a woman named Cassandra, but she was tragically killed in a suborbital transport accident. Like all Black Omega operatives, Avarael has cyber implants. He has enhanced reflexes and improved senses. He only needs to meditate five times a day in lieu of sleep. He only needs to eat one packet of specially prepared nutrients a week, or one regular meal a day. Agreeing with his grandfather’s assessment that the profession of soldering is a ‘life study’, Avarael constantly works hard to train and keep up with the latest developments. Although he is an amazing tactician and mecha pilot, the nature of Black Omega has so far made it impossible to test his abilities as a strategist. He also shares his grandfathers overweening sense of duty. He never loses.
