Farore
Farore is the Hylian Goddess of Courage, and with her sisters Din and Nayru constitute the triumverate of deities known as the Great Goddesses, or the Three, that rule the Hylian Pantheon. The Triforce of Courage is the one that contains a portion of her essence.
She is known as the Champion of Courage, and is associated with loyalty, sacrificial love, and defense of the innocent and weak. Farore is revered as the great defender of the Hylian people, and represents their loyal and courageous heart. More so than the other Hylian goddesses, Farore is the reminder of the great responsibility laid upon the Hylian people. If Din is the sword of the Hylians, then Farore is the shield, and symbolizes the sacrifices one must inevitably make to be a true protector. She is not a grim goddess, however. The Goddess of Courage does not symbolize the stern hand of honor, nor blind obedience, nor does she represent self-flagellant martyrdom. Instead, she embodies the kind of courage inspired by one’s love for others--for friends, family, clan, or a lover, and the kind of unbridled joy that comes from knowing one has prevented harm from coming to them. Farore also has aspects as a goddess of life and winds, and her breath is said to heal the land.
In Hylian mythology, she gave life to the land with her gentle breath. Among the Hyrulians, she was believed to be the lover of Chaldan, and was worshipped as the Great Mother who gave life to all living things. Mystery cults linking the two flourished as far away as Krace in ancient times. Farore is always portrayed with her sister goddesses as a tall, beautiful Hylian knight with a determined expression on her face, and a large, shining shield. She was the patron Goddess of the Sheikah, and of adventurers and all Hyrulian knights. Hyland police officers and first responders swear ceremonial oaths to her to this day.
