The Corridors

The Corridors are a mysterious series of astral "tunnels" crossing the Web only accessible via very specific magical means. They serve as a sort of metaphysical back door for traveling to various places. However, they are tremendously dangerous and notoriously volatile. Many have been cast into oblivion trying to navigate them, only to find them dissipating underneath their very feet.

For whatever reason, Sayadin have a far easier time traveling them than ordinary mages and sorcerers, particularly the Sayadin of the Dark. The Sakai Theorum posits that the Corridors are themselves comprised of the High Elements in their rawest form, and only those with an intimate knowledge and power over them are able to withstand their volatility. There is a belief among Cetrain Elementalists that the Corridors can draw Cetrain practitioners into them independent of the practitioner's conscious will, generally in times of great peril to get them to safety. This is the generally accepted explanation for how so many Valendians were able to reach Hallowed Bastion when their Dimension fell.

The Devil's Road in Baron is the only Corridor that is permanent, and widely known; it was created and maintained by ancient Xsian mages in a process that has been lost with the fall of their civilization. Aside from that, knowledge of their existence is confined almost entirely to the denizens of The Place Which Is No More, and those who practice Bastion Elementalism.
