Willard Grimaldi makes his living as a freelance ranger. He knows the lands between Grand Casar and several other towns on Avalon and helps patrol these to keep them safe, hiring himself out to travelers to offer protection from Avalon's wildlife. No one knows much else about him apart from that. Grimaldi is not a man given to conversation at the best of times. He has a fatalistic outlook on life, and it's said no one's ever seen him smile.
History
Not much is known about Willard Grimaldi's past. His skills in with both swords and firearms suggest some military experience, but his taciturn nature means no details are forthcoming. About five years ago, he took Ed Dour under his wing and helped the young man become a ranger himself.
Personal Life
Grimaldi allegedly keeps a home for himself near the small mining town of Lodestone, but spends little time there. Ed Dour is the closest friend that he has, but even the relatively more talkative Dour says there's not much else to Grimaldi's life. He wakes, he eats, he hunts dangerous wildlife, he protects travelers, he sleeps, and by all accounts is, if not happy, then at least content with this.
Special Skills/Abilities
Grimaldi is a trained ranger, with all that that entails. He is a skilled swordsman and an excellent shot with a rifle. He is an expert tracker, often making use of this skill when hired by towns or villages to deal with particularly dangerous or aggressive animals. He can live off the land if need be. He's a fair hand with riding chocobos as well.
