The Triangle Sect, originally self-identified as "The Triangle" and referred to as "the Triangle Heresy" by other Wayists, split from the main body of Wayists in ancient days. They differed from other such splinter groups in that the woman they called Prophetess had actually been named heir, prior to the old Prophetess birthing a natural daughter, and in the fact that the Prophetess's son sided with his adopted sister as opposed to his natural one.

The Triangle was first driven to the inhospitable region later known as the Granger Pact Lands, from the name of the agreement that the Iron Empire signed with the Heresy to bring about peace. This pact was later broken when the Iron Empire drove the Triangle from Dantic altogether.

Fleeing the might of the Iron Empire, the Triangle sect traveled via the Sills to Esper, where they built a great empire of their own and participated in the War of the Magi.
