- 1) I don't understand the problem with subdividing worlds by continents, since continents are a part of geography. 2) I don't understand what you mean by moving "continents" to "places by dimension." I can't find that page. If it exists please provide a link. The only place I can find that search string is as a heading for this geography page. --JD 03:03, 6 August 2006 (CDT)
- 1) There isn't a problem with it, really. It just looks messy to have continents out there by themselves at the bottom of the geography page. 2) "Places by dimension" would be the category immediately preceding "continents." Insert "section of the" between "places by dimension" and "page" in my last response to this talk, and that's what I meant.
- I don't think each continent, by itself, deserves a separate page in the wiki. I went ahead and did a page for Gate III with a blurb for each continent, and I think we should do something similar with the other earth-like worlds in order to better consolidate all this information. - 1) Now that I understand what you meant, I agree with you. The continents section at the end of the portal does look messy. 2) I don't see why continents don't "deserve" their own page in the wiki. It's fine to talk about the continents of Gate III, or the other earth-like worlds on their pages, but I don't see why that precludes my writing a page on, say, Blaenau Gwent. --JD 18:47, 6 August 2006 (CDT)
- 2) Well, they don't deserve their own pages because they aren't important enough to get it. A continent isn't one of the major things someone would be concerned with coming to the wiki's geography page: it's only a point of reference for far more significant story assets (i.e. this city is on this continent, this continent is one of three or four on this planet, or this country comprises X% of this continent's land area). I will say, there is absolutely nothing stopping you from writing a page on Blaenau Gwent. But what you've written so far is much less than a full page, and even if it did reach a full page in length, as far as I'm aware (?) there is no length limit on our wiki articles. (I'm assuming that because I've put up some really really massive ones so far) Again, it's probably up to you either way, but I think in the interests of keeping the wiki organized and straying away from many many smaller articles, the less-than-necessary ones should be grouped together (and yes, I do think articles devoted to continents are a little less than necessary, especially when compared to things like dimension briefs, writeups on the major planets, and nation profiles). I'll move the continents section to List of Continents. And if you don't want to do a page on one, just have it link to the page for the planet it's on. Like maybe [[Gate III#Zenan Continent|Zenan]] Xstryker 21:13, 6 August 2006 (CDT)
