Created by James Moldenberry, this television series (and attendant movies) explores social problems and relates modern Web-wide events through the the allegory of battles in space. Originally created in the 20s as the Web was in the throes of the Great War, Space Battles dared to dream of a better future. Despite its violent name, the premise of the series is that the peoples of the Web set aside their differences and explore space for the common good of all. The name was apparently a marketing decision, as no executive in the Web was going to sign off on "Space Peace."

Nonetheless, the series' message of a brighter tomorrow struck a cord with a war-weary Web and the series has become a cult hit, with a new series almost always in production as well as numerous movies.

Although the early movies have somewhat cheesy special effects, modern productions have been on the cutting edge of CGI.
