The Drow language is a melodic, darkly beautiful tongue that sounds much like its Elven forebear, though it has a tendency to have harsher consonants. There are two distinct dialects: High Drow, and Deep Drow. Deep Drow, also known as Low Drow or Drowic, is the language of everyday life, spoken by nobles and commoners alike, and is what most people mean when they speak of the Drow language. It is similar in syntax to Common, and like Common has various regional peculiarities unique to various communities. High Drow is an archaic dialect reserved for religious ceremonies and spell incantations, and is generally spoken only by Ara'yathrin or high priestesses of other Drow faiths. In what is perhaps an interesting commentary on the Dark Elven race, the Drow language has approximately fourteen words for "murder", but not a single one for "love".

There is a third "dialect" of a sort, known as the Silent Language. It is a complex system of hand gestures, facial tics, and body language cues that can convey anything spoken Drow can. Every Drow is taught it from a young age, as it is a crucial skill to have in the Underground, where sounds can carry often for miles.
