Mullenkamp (organization)
A Valendian religio-political cult founded by the charismatic Sayadin of the Dark, Sydney Losstarot. Named for the Lady of the Dark Mullenkamp, its patron Goddess, the group was small but fiercely loyal to Sydney, and gave their bodies as well as their souls to him. Their stated goals were two-fold: to break the back of the Iocan Church, whom they saw as a fascist organization bent on oppressing the world; and to liberate Valendia from the corruption of its political leaders and merchant princes.
To this end, they raided merchant caravans, distributing their contents to the poor and hungry, and carried out assassinations of especially corrupt church officials and nobles alike. Their activities raised the ire of both Church and State, and the group was declared a terrorist organization by the Valendian Crown, Public Enemy Number One, and its members treasonous. Arch Cardinal Batistum declared the group an evil, heretical pagan cult.
One Yuletide several years into its existence, the group made a botched assassination attempt on King Elnaius of Valendia which resulted in the death or imprisonment of a number of key members; Sydney himself and his lieutenant John Hardin barely escaped the authorities. Quiet rumors began to spread around this time that the group was being secretly financed by Duke Aldous Byron Bardorba, a decorated hero of Valendia's Civil War and senior member of Parliament, to further his political ambitions.
A few months later, Mullenkamp would be dealt its most severe blow, when it seized the Duke's manor and held his family hostage in exchange for the abdication of Arch Cardinal Batistum and the release of the cultists imprisoned in the Yuletide incident.
The group was devastated by the Greylands Incident. Nearly all the cultists died either by the hand of Ashley Riot, the Crimson Blades, or any one of the various Dark-spawned horrors of Léa Monde, and those that weren't perished in the city's subsequent destruction.
When Sydney found himself in the Hallowed Bastion after he killed himself, he was led by the Lady of the Dark to reform the group as a clandestine group within the Resistance, this time with the stated purpose of saving the Bastion's Lady of Light from Dimetrius' forces. Initiates of the reconstituted Mullenkamp include Prince Ansem Orphaeus and his twin brother Xemnas Orphaeus; RF Agents Ashley Fiennes, Callo Merlose, Simeon Vox and Ravenna Harshaw; and Knights of the Bastion Lord Gabriel Crescent, Dame Neesa Khazeni, Sir Tieger Quardez and Dame Samantha Harvey.
