When the Prophetess is unwed, it is tradition in both Ironesse and Triangle that her eldest brother act as her protector and command her armies, including the Knights of the Zone. If his sister weds he will be forced to forfeit that position. If the Prophetess has no bothers and is unwed, there is no central authority over her armies and the Knights of the Zone rule themselves.
