Gorgon

The handmaidens of the Dark Goddess Tyr, being human women from the waist up, with serpentine lower halves and a writhing mass of serpents in place of hair. Gorgons were promoted from among the ranks of Tyranid priestesses who pleased their mistress.

Their most commonly known powers (besides the magic granted to them as Tyr's priests) are the venomous bites from their hair, their toxic, acidic blood, and most famously their ability to turn mortals to stone with their gaze. While popular mythology holds that the petrifying power of Gorgons was inspired by their hideous ugliness, many are in fact quite beguilingly lovely.

Gorgons are among Tyr's most valued servants. Historically, they were often protected (or served as mounts by) Chimera.
