Matron Mother

The matriarch of a Dark Elven noble house, who is always the most powerful High Priestess of Sindrai'el in the family. Matron Mothers are the proverbial 800 lb gorillas of Dark Elven society, and stand atop the food chain in Sindralian cities. In their own houses, they are treated like queens (with, of course, the typical plots and conspiracies to contend with), and their word is law both in and outside their houses. Questioning a Matron Mother's orders is against the Way of Sindrai'el, and in many cases, is punishable by sacrifice.

The paramount responsibility of a Matron Mother is to advance the rank of her house, and in Sindralian cities, to make certain her family attains and remains in the Spider Queen's capricious favor. As the Spider Queen's prophet in the family, any infractions by any member of the family--particularly the noble household--reflect upon her, and as such, she must make certain that all are living according to the Spider Queen's dictates. Failure to do so can have disastrous consequences for all involved.
