Bekkler (Serious)

When it comes right down to it, as little (or perhaps less) is known about Norstein Bekkler as is known about the Web's other two prominent spymasters, Praxer Riose and Mako. For years he made a living running a magic academy in the southern city of Porre, called the Sun Palace. This academy took on the name "The Zealan Arts Preservation Society," and attracted wizards from Guardia, Medina and El Nido for the purposes of practicing and furthering the study of Gatian elemental magic.

Doan Pendouris contracted with Bekkler to transform the Society into a magic-using intelligence operation for Guardia, and since that time the Society has served in that capacity.

Recently Bekkler was removed from his position as ZAPS Director when the Morris administration began an investigation into allegations of corruption within the society. The purging that followed (both by Bekkler and by the bureaucrats and military men who would inherit the society from him) has resulted in fundamentally transforming ZAPS: many of ZAPS' field agents are non-magical, and most of ZAPS' higher ranking officials and agents are transfers from the GDF, GSF or the Chancellor's office.
