Great Thread Debate
A period of time in which, in the dark ages of AOL, there came the great argument of To Thread or Not To Thread. Prior to this debate posts had been either single posts all jumbled in the Kupopolis! folder, or as a bunch of replies to an original story post.
The chief argument against threading was that it wasn't needed, because the location of the post could easily be determined by the "Location: xxx" at the beginning of the post. This was mostly true, as almost all the writers of the day were still writing in that janky mock-script format.
The chief argument for threading was it would keep the folder cleaner and make it easier for new writers to get caught up on old stuff.
The pro-thread side won the argument and the concept of threading was carried over to our own website when the decision was later made to jump ship off AOL and the D built Sliver for us.
