Esperian Ship Munitions
The Esperians initially developed ship munitions primarily for the early airship fleets of the Sky Riders, and drew upon the traditions of the Imperial Air Force before them. These weapons have generally been magitech in nature. They usually make use of magitech warheads, with cannons either employing beam weapons or gravitic propellants. The Sky Riders Aerospace Navy sometimes employs similar weapons, though they also use technology from Tasnican developments.

Missiles
Esperian missiles generally employ magitechnology for their propellants and their warheads, owing to the prevalence of magilyte as a fuel source in the Esper Dimension.
Surface-to-Surface Missiles
SSM-1IK Magitek “Grizzly” Surface-to-Surface Missile
- The Grizzly is produced by Kuat Consortium, and is used by the Esperian Ground Forces’ variant of the Ursus battlesuit. The missile is very short ranged, and can only reach a mile away, and has a rudimentary targeting system. The missile is mainly meant for fire support for infantry, and as such, the warhead load varies quite a bit. Fragmentation is common for anti-personnel purposes, while armor piercing is generally reserved for light to medium armored targets. High explosive warheads are occasionally issued for heavy fire support.
SK-SSM1 Magitek “Goblin” Surface-to-Surface Missile
- The Goblin is a missile produced by Saeder-Krupp for the Esper United Soldiery. The surface-to-surface missile is intended mainly for the Locke light combat vehicle platform, but can also be mounted on some missile batteries located on various bases and used by the Lightning missile launcher of the KN Garrison mecha. The Goblin is primarily a short-range missile for specific bombardment, such as hitting fortifications on a battlefield. Its range is four miles. The missile most often mounts high explosive warheads, to use against armored targets and personnel.
SK-SSM2 Magitek “Ogre” Surface-to-Surface Cruise Missile
- The Ogre is the primary surface-to-surface cruise missile of the Esper United Soldiery, and is manufactured by Saeder-Krupp. It can be mounted on the cruise missile launcher on the Locke II light combat vehicle, or fired from bases or naval ships. The missile has a range of two hundred miles. It is remote controlled and driven by a gunner into the target. The missile is meant to take out large artillery emplacements, bunkers, and other large targets. The warhead on the Ogre is typically high explosive, but a gas warhead or a gravitic warhead is also available, though rarely employed.
Surface-to-Air Missiles
SA-F1A Magitek “Wasp” Surface-to-Air Missile
- Forge Mechanicals’ Wasp missile is the primary SAM used by the Esper United Soldiery against aerospace fighters from surface-based missile launchers, including launch platforms at bases, on naval ships, Locke light combat vehicles, and the Lightning missile launcher. It is a short-range missile, and has an effective range of five miles. Its primary use is against fighters and smaller craft, lacking the size and armor piercing capability needed to pierce the hulls of airships. It is designed to operate within an atmosphere, and cannot escape to hit targets in orbit. It most often mounts an armor piercing, high explosive warhead.
SA-F1S Magitek “Hornet” Surface-to-Air Missile
- Forge Mechanicals’ Hornet, while labeled as a surface-to-air missile, is in reality a missile intended for use in space. It is typically mounted on point defense missile batteries on capital vessels and defense platforms, and is effectively a version of the Wasp with added range and fuel for use in space. Its range is a hundred miles in space. Like the Wasp, it is made to destroy fighters and mecha, and is less useful against the armor and shields of a full-fledged capital vessel. It is most often given an armor piercing, high explosive warhead.
SA-F2 Magitek “Yellowjacket” Surface-to-Air Cruise Missile
- The Yellowjacket missile, produced by Forge Mechanicals, is a medium cruise missile that is intended for attacking large aerospace targets such as airships and space vessels. The Yellowjacket is available to the cruise missile launcher on the Locke II light combat vehicle, and to launchers on the surface and on naval vessels. The range of the cruise missile is two hundred miles. It is generally not placed on capital vessels, which generally use other sorts of missiles (such as the Tornado and the Hurricane). The Yellowjacket can be remote controlled from its launch station and guided into the target. It is capable of escape velocity, and can hit space vessels in orbit around a planet. The warhead is most often high explosive, but can also mount a gravitic warhead.
Air-to-Air Missiles
AA-F1B Magitek “Hyperion” Air-to-Air Missile
- The Hyperion AAM is produced by Forge Mechanicals for the Ifrit Power Armor, Ifrit Air Type, and Ifrit Space Type. A single Hyperion can be fit upon each of the specially made hardpoints on the wings of the three battlesuits, and the flight-capable battlesuits are the only platforms that use the Hyperion. The Hyperion is a small, flattened missile that is nearly spherical. It is capable of operations in both space and an atmosphere. It has a short range of only eight miles in an atmosphere and forty miles in space, but carries a warhead with a very powerful high explosive warhead.
AAM1AA-AE Magitek “Mute” Air-to-Air Anti-AWACS Missile
- Aerospace Esper’s Mute missile is the primary method for targeting enemy Airborne Warning And Control System (AWACS) planes. A single hardpoint on Shiva, Shiva II, Kirin, Wyvern, and Pterodon fighters can hold one Mute missile. The missile has an impressive range of four hundred miles in the atmosphere. It is not used in space because AWACS duties are handled by capital ships in space, in which case an anti-warship torpedo would suffice. The missile is meant to be launched beyond fighter cover range and strike down an AWACS craft from afar. The warhead mounted on it is an anti-tank, high explosive combination that is very effective against large anti-AWACS planes.
AAM-1AK Magitek “Demon” Air-to-Air Missile
- Kuat’s Demon missile is the primary light air-to-air missile of the Esper Union Aerospacy. The Shiva, Shiva II, Kirin, and Wyvern fighters of the Aerospacy carry it, as well as the Pterodon fighter of the Esperian Navy, and each hardpoint can carry a cluster of three missiles. The missiles have a range of twenty miles, and are the standard dogfighting missile of the Aerospacy within the atmosphere. However, it cannot be used in space. It is preferred for attacking mecha and fighters, but is generally ineffective against larger targets. The standard warhead is an anti-tank, high explosive combination.
AAM-1SK Magitek “Devil” Air-to-Air Missile
- The Devil is the space-capable version of the venerable Demon missile produced by Kuat Consortium. While labeled an AAM, it is in fact a space-to-space missile. It is designed for the Shiva, Shiva II, and Stray fighters of the Esper Union Aerospacy, and each hardpoint on the wing can fit three of the missiles. Its range is a hundred miles, and is the preferred missile for dogfights in space. It can operate in an atmosphere, but is very inferior. It only has a range of five miles and is ponderously slow for a missile. Its intended use is against fighters and mecha. Like the Demon, the Devil’s standard warhead is an anti-tank, high explosive payload.
SK-AAM1 Magitek “Journeyman” Air-to-Air Missile
- The Journeyman, manufactured by Saeder-Krupp, is the primary medium air-to-air missile of the Esper Union Aerospacy. It is capable of functioning within an atmosphere or in space. A single warhead can fit a large hardpoint on the fighters the missile has been designed for: the Shiva, Wyvern, and Pterodon fighters, the Kirin fighter-bomber, and the Ramuh and Palidor bombers. Its range is eighty miles in the atmosphere and five hundred miles in space. The Journeyman is for assuring kills against other aircraft and mecha, or against small space vessels and airships. It typically carries a high explosive, armor-piercing warhead.
Air-to-Surface Missiles
AS-F1B Magitek “Apollo” Air-to-Surface Missile
- The Apollo AAM is produced by Forge Mechanicals for the Ifrit Power Armor and the Ifrit Air Type. A single Apollo can fit upon each hardpoint of the wings of the Ifrit PA and Ifrit AT, and the flight capable battlesuits are the only platforms that use the Apollo. The missile is flattened and nearly spherical, similar to the Hyperion. It is intended against targets such as tanks and mecha, and despite the short range of eight miles, its armor piercing, high explosive warhead is excellent against these targets.
ASM1H-AE Magitek “Groundhog” Air-to-Surface Missile
- Aerospace Esper, the national airline of the Esper Union, produces a number of missiles and aerospace craft for the military. The Groundhog is a small air-to-surface missile produced for the Shoat ARA, Shoat civil defense, and Siren helicopter craft. Four can fit on each of the hardpoints mounted on the helicopter. Because of its platform, this air rocket artillery has a range of only five miles, but this makes it more than adequate for fire support for the Airmobile Regulars. The small missile, which is rather short and stubby compared to most missiles, typically carries an anti-tank, high explosive warhead for anti-armor purposes, or a normal high explosive warhead for anti-personnel attacks. The civil defense helicopters will typically carry tear gas or knockout gas helicopters.
ASM2F-AE Magitek “Mole” Air-to-Surface Missile
- Aerospace Esper’s Mole is a medium air-to-surface missile designed for the Esper Union Aerospacy’s fighters. It can be carried on the Shiva, Kirin, Pterodon, Palidor, Ramuh, and Shoat ARA aircraft, and two Mole missiles fit on each hardpoint. It can be used in the atmosphere and space, though is rarely used in space. The range of the missile is thirty miles. It is intended for precision bombing against tanks, mecha, and bunkers. The large, snubbed warhead is most often an anti-tank, high explosive piece that excels at piercing even the armor of the heaviest bunkers. It also can carry a high explosive warhead to use against infantry and personnel, though this is not its intended role.
ASM-1BK Magitek “Phoenix” Air-to-Surface Missile
- Kuat Consortium’s Phoenix missile is the primary heavy air-to-surface missile used by the Esper Union Aerospacy. Two Phoenix missiles can hit on the large hardpoints on the Shiva, Kirin fighter-bomber, Wyvern, Pterodon, Palidor, and Ramuh fighters. It is functional in the atmosphere and space. The range of the missiles is one hundred miles, and it is intended to be an effective weapon for bombarding factories, large fortifications, and large areas in a city or military complex, or against lighter capital ships. The warhead of the Phoenix is either high explosive, or condensed Flare energy for a higher explosive yield.
ASM-2RK Magitek “Blind” Air-to-Surface Anti-Radar Missile
- The Blind missile, created by Kuat Consortium, is an anti-radar air-to-surface missile commonly used by the Esper Union Aerospacy’s fighters. A single Blind missile can be mounted upon hardpoints on the Shiva, Kirin, Wyvern, Pterodon, Palidor, and Ramuh craft. The missile can only function in the atmosphere, and has a range of a hundred miles. The advantage of the Blind is the retarded attack: it can be launched towards radar sites, and emit a parachute to hover over the site, and then target it if it should become active. The missile can home in easily on radar emissions from ground sites. The warhead on the blind can be either high explosive, to physically destroy the site, or electromagnetic pulse, to simply destroy all of the electronics at the site.
Aquatic Torpedoes
SK-AT1 Magitek “Moray” Aquatic Torpedo
- Saeder-Krupp’s Moray is the primary naval torpedo for all Saeder-Krupp produced ships, and thus the primary sea-launched torpedo of the Esperian Navy. The Moray can be fit in torpedo tubes on all of the vessels that have them in the Esperian Navy. It has a range of seventy nautical miles, and is a superb ship-killer. The Moray is a very quiet torpedo, and has a quick speed and powerful high explosive warhead that can take down even the heaviest of naval vessels.
SK-AT2 Magitek “Bottlenose” Aquatic Torpedo
- The Bottlenose is Saeder-Krupp’s air-launched torpedo design. The torpedo can be mounted two per large hardpoint on Shiva, Shiva II, Kirin fighter-bomber, and Pterodon fighters, and one per hardpoint on the Siren helicopter, and can be launched into the water to attack enemy vessels. The Bottlenose has a range of nine nautical miles, but is almost as deadly as the heavier Moray torpedo. It is not as quiet, but the torpedo is faster than its larger, sea-launched kin. The high explosive warhead can heavily damage, if not sink most vessels in a single blow.
Aerospace Anti-Warship Torpedoes
SK-AWT1F Magitek “Tornado” Anti-Warship Torpedo
- Saeder-Krupp’s Tornado is the primary fighter-mounted anti-warship torpedo of the Esper Union Aerospacy. A single Tornado can be mounted on the large hardpoints on the Aerospacy’s Shiva and Ramuh fighters. The torpedo can operate in space or an atmosphere. In the atmosphere, it has a range of two hundred miles. In space, its maximum range is a thousand miles. Its primary purpose is for attacking capital vessels, but the missile can also be used for heavy bombardment of cities and densely populated areas. The standard warheads of a Tornado are high explosive, condensed Flare energy, or condensed Merton energy, in order of destructive capability. It can also carry a gravitic warhead in special circumstances.
SK-AWT2W Magitek “Hurricane” Anti-Warship Torpedo
- The Hurricane, mass-produced by Saeder-Krupp, is the primary warship and silo-based torpedo of the Esper Union Aerospacy. It is a silo-launched missile, and is nearly the size of a ballistic missile. The silos can be mounted on capital vessels used by the Aerospacy, or on the surface of a planet, asteroid, or orbital base. It can be used in the air or in space, and is capable of achieving escape velocity. It has a range of twelve hundred miles in an atmosphere, and three thousand miles in space. The missile is a four-stage rocket, and is intended for inflicting heavy damage to a capital ship, or as a ballistic missile on the surface. The warheads of the Hurricane include high explosive, though it is rarely used because it fails to adequately damage most warships, condensed Flare, or the most common, condensed Merton. It can also carry a gravitic warhead.
