Chain mail
Chain mail, small metal rings linked together, were invented by the Ingrish Kingdom of Norfrest. Effective against slashing and piercing weapons, chain mail represented the state-of-the-art for those unable to acquire dwarf weapons fron Ulmsmodin. Usually peasants and commonors could not afford it, but most nobles could. Most common in Norfrest, though seen throughout the Ingrish Alliance; the Taznikanze tended to avoid it, however, because metal armor was a death sentence to anyone who fell overboard.
The Elves of the World of Crystal had long employed their own brand of chain mail in war. Considerably lighter than other types, yet just as strong, the Elves forged it from mythril tempered and enchanted through a secret alchemical process. Their Dark Elven brethren had their own variant on this process, employing adamantite and their own dark magics instead of mythril, which was far more easily obtainable in the Underground.
