Gravitic Weapons
Gravitic weaponry was pioneered by the Esper Union. Using magitek, they manipulate gravity such that they negate the effect of gravity and enhance the power of a chemical weapon. This allows them to fire larger and stronger rounds than standard needle weaponry. However, they also tend to require larger magazines for the same amount of ammunition, and are slightly less accurate and more prone to jamming. Gravitic cannons were first employed as large, artillery cannons mounted on warships and tracked vehicles. However, with time, they have been miniaturized and transformed into successful small arms of many kinds.
Esper United Soldiery Gravitic Sidearms
GP-01 Gravitic “Rogue” 9mm Sidearm
- The GP-01 Rogue was designed by the Fort Locke Research Group, but is mass-produced for the Esper United Soldiery by the Tasnican corporation Saeder-Krupp. The Rogue uses a gravitic propellant system to fire reliable nine-millimeter slugs. The pistol is a very study weapon, and meant to take a beating. The Rogue uses twelve round magazines, and can hold an additional round in the chamber. The GP-01 is the original gravitic pistol, and has been the standard sidearm of the Esper United Soldiery since the Leviathan War. It has relatively high piercing power compared to similar sidearms, and causes greater trauma than comparable nine-millimeter pistols. It can carry standard solid slugs, explosive rounds, or armor piercing rounds. The one downfall of the GP-01 is that unlike other sidearms, such as the NH-2 pistol used by the Grand Army and other militaries, it has no automatic setting, only a semi-automatic setting.
GP-02 Gravitic “Bandit II” 7mm Light Pistol
- The GP-02 Bandit II is the standard light pistol used by the Esper United Soldiery. Like the more common Rogue, it was originally designed by the Fort Locke Research Group, but is mass-produced by Saeder-Krupp. The Bandit II has a twenty round magazine, and can carry another in the chamber. The Bandit II was made with the Special Forces of the EUS and field agents of the Esperian Civil Intelligence Department in mind, and is thus a great deal lighter and lower caliber than the heavier and more damaging Rogue. The rounds of the Bandit II are less effective against armored targets, but are more than sufficient against unarmored targets. The Bandit II can also be enhanced with silencers for assassinations, and is one of the most precise and accurate pistols in the Web. Like the Rogue, it only has a semi-automatic setting.
Esper United Soldiery Gravitic Rifles
GR-11 Gravitic “Dirk” 7mm Light Rifle
- The GR-11 rifle was the very first gravitic rifle, and was originally designed by the Fort Locke Research Group. The rifle is now mass-produced by the Saeder-Krupp Corporation of Tasnica. The mainstay of Esperian forces does not use the Dirk. Various civil defense militias and police departments of the Esper Union use it, but it will sometimes be assigned to the Special Forces when a mission calls for the use of a light rifle. The rifle is a bolt-action rifle, and can hold six rounds inside the chamber. It has excellent range, superior to that of the Rapier and Saber rifles, but lacks an automatic or semi-automatic setting that makes it feasible as an assault rifle design. The Dirk is a preferred rifle of police snipers and the riflemen of the numerous civilian militias throughout the Esper Union.
GR-12 Gravitic “Rapier” 8mm Assault Rifle with: GC-02 Gravitic “Broadsword” 25mm Grenade Launcher
- The GR-12 assault rifle is a package that includes two weapons: an eight-millimeter assault rifle and a grenade launcher mounted underneath the barrel. The rifle was designed and invented by the Fort Locke Research Group, but is mass-produced by the Saeder-Krupp corporation. It is the standard issue assault rifle for the Esperian Naval Marines and the Esperian Airmobile Regulars of the Esper United Soldiery, making it the most common rifle used by the Esperian military forces. It was tried and tested in the Imperialist War and Leviathan War and proved its excellence there. The assault rifle’s 8mm barrel has excellent piercing power and range, and uses a magazine that holds thirty rounds, with another two stored in the chamber. The 25mm grenade launcher has a magazine that holds six rounds and stores another in the firing chamber. The twin magazines give the Rapier (which it is typically referred to as) a distinct appearance. The assault rifle barrel of the Rapier can also have a standard Esperian bayonet fixed below it, and positioned so the grenade launcher will not hit it when fired. The assault rifle can also use armor piercing rounds, while the grenade launcher can use armor piercing rounds for use against light armor, or fragmentation grenades against personnel. The assault rifle has semi-automatic and automatic settings, while the grenade launcher has only a semi-automatic setting.
GR-13 Gravitic “Saber” 8mm Assault Rifle
- The GR-13 assault rifle, like the GR-12, was designed by the Fort Locke Research Group and is produced for the Soldiery by Saeder-Krupp. The GR-13 is the standard issue assault rifle for the Special Forces of the Esper United Soldiery, and has been in production since after the Imperialist War (with the introduction of the Sorcerous Tactical Operations Reconnaissance Marines). It has essentially the same 8mm barrel as the Rapier rifle, but is slightly lighter to provide it with more accuracy. It still has the same range and piercing power of the Rapier, as well as the same rate of fire. Like the Rapier, it can fit two rounds in the chamber and thirty in the magazine, and uses the same magazines as the rapier. The primary difference is that the Saber can have a silencer and a variety of scopes added, and in addition to the semi-automatic and automatic settings, it has a bolt-action setting that is ideal for a sniper.
GR-14 Gravitic “Breaker” 13mm Sniper Rifle
- The GR-14 was designed by the Fort Locke Research Group and is produced by Saeder-Krupp. Snipers of the Esperian Naval Marines, the Airmobile Regulars, the Battlesuit Regulars, and the Special Forces units of the Soldiery use the Breaker. The rifle is especially long and bulky, even for a sniper rifle. It has a range of two miles, and typically uses explosive, armor-piercing rounds that can tear through even some tank armor. The Breaker is intended to take out personnel inside bunkers and armored vehicles, thus being an excellent weapon for piercing heavy armor. The rifle has a six round magazine and can hold another round inside its firing chamber. The Breaker comes with a custom scope that has not only night vision and telescopic sight, but also an X-Ray projector to see targets beneath layers of stone and armor.
Esper United Soldiery Heavy Gravitic Weapons
GC-01 Gravitic “Claymore” 30mm Grenade Launcher GC-01A Gravitic “Claymore II” 30mm Automatic Grenade Launcher
- Fort Locke Research Group’s GC-01 Claymore was the first gravitic powered firearm to see significant deployment in the Esper Union’s military forces; the Esperian Chocobo Cavalry used the weapon as their mainstay, and the cannon can be mounted on a tripod and carried by a normal infantry soldier. The Claymore has since been mostly phased out, with most of the grenade launchers going to civil defense forces. It has been replaced by the Claymore II, which uses the same rounds as its predecessor, but has an automatic fire setting that makes it popular with heavy weapons units in the infantry, a fire support rifle for battlesuits, and a tripod or vehicular mounted cannon. Both use a twenty-four round magazine, or a belt of a hundred grenades, and can hold another four rounds inside the firing chamber. The grenades of the cannons can pierce light to medium armor, and come in several kinds. High explosive and armor piercing rounds are the most common kinds, but fragmentation grenades are sometimes used for anti-personnel purposes. The Claymore only has a semi-automatic setting, while the Claymore II has a semi-automatic and automatic fire setting.
GM-01 Gravitic “Scythe” 8mm Machinegun
- The GM-01 Scythe is the original gravitic machinegun, and is widely deployed throughout the Esper United Soldiery. It was originally designed and produced by the Fort Locke Research Group, with another contract given to Esperian Motor Works, giving EMW half the production of the Scythe. Saeder-Krupp only took over the FLRG portion of the Scythe’s production. It is used as a tripod-mounted weapon by infantry or is vehicle-mounted. The machinegun is the standard anti-personnel weapon of the EUS’ Esperian Naval Marines and Airmobile Regulars, and is widespread in its use. It uses a belt with either two hundred and fifty rounds, and has an excellent rate of fire. The Scythe typically employs armor-piercing or explosive rounds to allow it to be functional against lightly armored targets. It only has an automatic setting.
GM-02 Gravitic “Pike” 12mm Heavy Machinegun
- The Pike is another weapon designed by the Fort Locke Research Group and produced by Esperian Motor Works and Saeder-Krupp. The machinegun was created a year prior to the Leviathan War, and is the main heavy anti-personnel machinegun of the Esper United Soldiery. It was originally only mounted on vehicles, but has now also been modified to be the heavy rifle of the Battlesuit Regulars. The GM-02 Pike uses either a two hundred and fifty round belt or a seventy-five round magazine, and has a superb rate of fire. The Pike’s heavy rounds can pierce through an automobile’s engine block, and only heavy tank armor will completely stop the rounds. The Pike only has an automatic setting, and comes standard with rounds that are either armor piercing or explosive.
GM-03 Gravitic “Trident” 6.5mm Light Machinegun
- Saeder-Krupp designed and produced the GM-03 Trident for the Esper United Soldiery’s new Battlesuit Regulars. The light machinegun is akin to the Kuat-designed N6 machinegun used by the Republican Marine Corps. The machinegun uses seventy-five round magazines, and has a rate of fire on par with other gravitic machineguns in the automatic setting. It is the most common weapon used by the Battlesuit Regulars, and has a good armor-piercing capability, better than that of the N6. The Trident can use armor piercing or explosive rounds, and has semi-automatic and automatic settings. The Trident also can mount any standard Esperian bayonets.
