The leader of the Beggar's Reef Gang on the West End of Whalebone Avenue in Pell. Nathan, sometimes called "Lil' Bossie Jossie" (although never call him that to his face), was a soldier of Allan Seabairne's Whalebone Ave Gang during the gangster's original reign, but he had delusions of greater standing and an unpleasant habit of ordering everyone about.
When Seabairne was apparently killed, Nathan and his small crew attempted to take more power, but he lacked any respect for anyone and as such received none in turn. Then his crew knocked over a shipment of surplus munitions and firearms bound for Arking Naval Academy, and quite suddenly Joss Nathan became a major player.
Now capable of pulling off bigger heists, Nathan's gang grew in stature as he began acquiring more guns and smuggling them around, and so his ego grew with it. He forcibly and violently took control of three partially-sunken buildings in the midst of Beggar's Reef, and used them as his headquarters as he began to operate his smuggling business there, expanding the field to include drugs as well.
His violent and unpredictable nature makes him feared on the West End, but he is still not respected by many of the other gangs in Pell, most especially Miz Rollsley and her High Rollers. Nathan holds a major grudge against Rollsley for being able to repel his attempts at invading her territory multiple times. He has an amicable relationship with fellow gang boss Long Rufus Rafferty.
He remains unaware of Allan Seabairne's return to Pell.
