The Web's first viral distributed supercomputer. Runs SkyNet for the FTSR. Can be used by Wyvern Dracoforms to enter Evasive Mode.
Their computer network was similarly arranged, a world-class supercomputer hidden all over the network. Dubbed “Iteration X” (IX for short), it was the world’s first distributed neural-network AI, spread across dedicated hubs, satellite routers, and even in viral form on thousands upon thousands of ordinary terminals. Several project engineers reported encountering it spreading into Esper of its own accord, and there was at least one report of its payload diagnosed as a virtual tumor on a Guardian-made robot. Its power lay not in clock speed and expensive hardware (save for its assimilation of SkyNet, perhaps), but rather in the enormous number of processors operating in parallel and fault-tolerant design, along with some stunningly brilliant network efficiency algorithms on the cutting edge of graph theory. Iteration X was a decentralized hivemind, with redundant backup arrays and continuously morphing encryption schemes. It wasn’t precisely self-aware, but it was self-replicating, and its learning algorithms were fairly good, although nowhere close to Guardian standards. Artificial biology pioneers had measured its intelligence as being on par with an ant colony, although some argued it was more comparable to an entire ant species, with a number of semi-autonomous queens. Organizationally, it was a remarkably accurate mirror of the Collective itself.
Kupopolis Neo
In Neo, Iteration X is self-aware, highly intelligent, and disdainful of humans. It lives in the gas giant Dante (Light V) on SkyNet satellites. Acid Razorshine summons it to wipe out UCSSF forces in the Light Dimension.
